WELCOME TO RISE MINISTRY

RISE, COME DEEPEN

YOUR FAITH

“Do you wish to rise? Begin by descending. You plan a tower that will pierce the clouds? Lay first the foundation of humility.”

Saint Augustine.

FELLOWSHIP

“For where two or three gather in my name, there I am with them.”

-Matthew 18:20

My last word to you, by which I implore you even with my blood, is that you live in harmony, united together, all of one heart and one will.  Be bound to one another by the bond of charity, esteeming each other, helping each other, bearing with each other in Jesus Christ.

Saint Angela Merici.

CONNECT

“So we, though many, are one body in Christ. And individually parts of one another.”

-Romans 12:5

“Christ has no body now, but yours. No hands, no feet on earth, but yours. Yours are the eyes through which Christ looks compassion into the world.Yours are the feet with which Christ walks to do good. Yours are the hands with which Christ blesses the world.”

Saint Teresa of Avila.

GOD'S LOVE

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, and whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”

-John.3:16

When you know how much God is in love with you, then you can only live your life radiating that love.

Saint Teresa of Calcutta

About Rise Ministry

Rise Ministry was sent to me during a difficult time in my life. My Fibromyalgia was quite angry, and it limited my physical abilities. A simple thing like movement was a struggle. I read the daily bible readings and on this particular day, I came across Mark 2:1-12.

2 So many gathered around that there was no longer room for them, not even in front of the door; and he was speaking the word to them. 3 Then some people[a] came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. 4 And when they could not bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him; and after having dug through it, they let down the mat on which the paralytic lay. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” …Rise, take your mat and go.

Mark 2:1-12

This reading speaks to one’s spiritual journey. That longing to get close to Jesus, however, whether physically, mentally/emotionally or spiritually you are not able to. I have been in both positions, like the man who could not bring himself to Jesus and the friend that helped him. What struck me the most is “the after”. After you bring the friend and witness the miracle or you are healed from your paralysis, what do you do? The story does not stop here. Our soul is longing to know Jesus. That is where we find peace, hope and joy.

When life becomes difficult is when we look for Jesus the most. It is also a time that you reevaluate things and decide what comes next.  For me, I decided I would use my gifts in the way God wanted me too. The story can not stop at healing.  Jesus is calling us into a relationship with Him, to get to know Him. He is wanting us to deepen our faith. To look through the lens of faith and live each moment through that lens.

Purpose in Life

My life has changed. My abilities fluctuate. I had to redefine what purpose meant to me. I found that God sends you what you need.  I am a child of God. God gave me gifts to use. One ministry is from my kitchen, in preparing and making food for my family.  I have come to know that your purpose is found where you land, with the people that are around you and with the abilities that you have in that moment. God does not put expectations on us. He encourages to put our trust in Him.

What is Spiritual Direction?

Do you have a longing to understand what your purpose in life is?

I can relate…

My life has changed a great deal over the past three years. An example of my purpose now is my ministry from my kitchen, in preparing and making food for my family.  I have come to know that your purpose is found where you land, with the people that are around you and with the abilities that you have in that moment. God does not expect us to be great.

The great comes when we let go of our expectations of what things should be like and let them happen through the workings of the Holy Spirit, the way that God intends.

Spiritual direction is an ancient ministry of the Christian community, where the goal is to help others deepen their relationship with God through prayer and reflection. It is a place where people can grow spiritually.

In Spiritual Direction sessions, the Director guides, educates, and mentors the Directee.

Spiritual Direction is meant to lead the Directee to examine their spiritual life. It is not counselling or a form of Social Work. The Spiritual Director will attentively listen, to provide insight through the workings of the Holy Spirit.

The Seventy

The Seventy Newsletter was created during the time of the pandemic. It was a difficult time, our churches were closed. We were separated from our family and friends. I wanted to connect people and to share the word of God. I wrote the first newsletter in November of 2020 and I sent it out to family and friends. In the newsletter, I provide a reflection, resources and education about our faith.  God sure has a sense of humour and I never thought this was the way He wanted me to use my gifts.
